After a bit of a hiatus to work on some film projects, I am refocusing my energy to my acting workshop. I have an awesome new location at Big Puddle Films (1028 SE Water Ave. PDX 97214), and a hankering for helping get some aspiring actors up and running in this market. I'm entering the Fall of 2013 with a new approach to my workshop, that is designed to be more "newbie" friendly.

On the first Tuesday of every month (6-10pm) beginning 9/3, the workshop will be a "(Jumping Into The) Deep End" immersion, focusing on: being in an acting class, knowing your "type", growing a thick skin, some basic ins-and-outs of the industry, "setiquette", obtaining and updating promotional materials, etc. This four-hour session serves as a great primer before diving into the ongoing class, which takes place each of the other weeks of the month. Attendance is limited for this class, and cost is $60. Attendees of the Deep End class will meet and receive insight/critique from guest industry professionals, as well as receive offers for savings on professional headshot services, headshot/resumé and other promotional material creation/consultation, and more. I highly recommend attending the Deep End class to any actor who has not attended an ongoing acting class before, does not have a professional headshot/resumé, or has little/no experience auditioning for speaking roles on professional productions.

The Ongoing Tuesday Night Class (6:30-9pm) will run like my workshop did originally - with a rotating and evolving focus on real world scenarios, guest industry professionals (directors, casting folk, agents), on-camera work, video playback/critique, the occasional curve ball, and so much more. See some of the previous blog posts for an idea of potential curriculum. I will bring back the pre-paid, discount punch cards - and honor any that are still out there. Cost is $100 on months with three classes, and $130 on months with four. Drop-ins are welcome for a $40 fee. Actors can audit the class (observation only) one time for no charge.
